My experience with this car rental was extremely disappointing. The vehicle provided did not match the advertisement at all, and the company’s excuses regarding my complaints have been completely unacceptable.

Capacity & Safety: Although the listing specified 5 seats, the rear middle seat lacked a proper seatbelt attachment. It is irrelevant what the car’s certificate says if, in practice, it is impossible to transport five people safely.

Missing Features: The car was advertised with Bluetooth and Air Conditioning. The Bluetooth did not work (I had to spend €10 of my own money on an adapter), and the AC was non-existent. The owner's claim that "it is difficult to check AC in May" is unprofessional; if a feature is advertised, it must be functional regardless of the season.

Mechanical Issues: The driver’s window kept getting stuck and would not close properly. Additionally, the vehicle was delivered with zero windshield washer fluid.

Useless Gas System: I specifically chose this car because it was equipped with a gas system. However, I was not provided with the necessary key to refuel, making this feature entirely useless.

Poor Management Response: The company’s defense that I "booked a cheap car and not a Range Rover" is insulting. Renting an older, economical model does not give the provider the right to misrepresent the vehicle or deliver it in poor condition. Furthermore, suggesting that I should have spent my limited 4-day trip arranging a replacement—for a service that should have been correct from the start—is unreasonable.

I do not recommend this company. They provide misleading advertisements, poorly maintained vehicles, and lack professional accountability.

Disappointing experience - bait and switch!!

I rented a car through Rent From Locals and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. The car I received was not the one I booked.. a clear bait and switch. The vehicle was quite dirty and only had half a tank of gas when it was dropped off. The person delivering it didn’t wait to make sure everything worked properly, and the trunk ended up not opening at all.

I tried to return the car right away, but that process was confusing and complicated, so I ended up keeping it. Overall, it felt unprofessional and frustrating — especially being in a foreign country and expecting a smooth, reliable rental. Definitely not the experience I was hoping for.

Sur le contrat initial , on demande une Audi A3 manuelle pour un total de 897,08€ payé par Mastercard GOLD ( assurance location incluse(50000 € de couverture)) . On se retrouve sans autre alternative avec une Mercedes automatique , des frais de conversion (33,85€) que je n'ai pas à payer et la pression pour prendre une assurance dont je n'ai pas besoin . L'alarme du véhicule bipait constamment ( défauts électroniques ( gonflage pneus , huile ,moteur , portes etc ...). L'assurance Mastercard couvre les problèmes provoqués par le chauffeur , pas les pannes liées aux défauts du véhicule ( manque d'entretien ). Louer un véhicule ancien à un bon prix ne doit pas justifier le fait qu'il soit en mauvais état . Dommage

We booked a wolksvagen golf 5 but when we arrived they told us there are no golf 5 and they recommznd a ford c max which we did not like; also they gave it to us with no benzine and dirty. And so because they told us this when we have arrived we did not have other choice so we tooke it. And i think this is not professional.

The car was in an end-of-life condition, and the price was doubled for taking the vehicle abroad & long-distance driving - despite clear communication on the website/ in the booking process that taking the car abroad comes at no extra cost and that there is no kilometre limit.

I rented an X3, but upon arrival in Tirana, I was informed that the vehicle had been in an accident. Instead, I was offered a Golf+ as a replacement.

I had to negotiate to get a reduced rate, given the downgrade.

Additionally, I noticed that one of the tires appeared different from the others. When I raised the concern, I was told everything was fine.

However, after just three hours on the road, I realized that both rear tires were flat.

When I called the rental provider, he admitted he was already aware of the issue and asked me to replace the tires myself, promising to reimburse me.

When it came time to return the car, he showed up late — which caused unnecessary stress as I was at risk of missing my flight.

Overall, the experience felt very unprofessional. It gave the impression of an informal operation — more like a private individual renting out multiple cars and using minors to manage the process.

Most other reviews are positive, so perhaps I was just unlucky. But based on my experience, I cannot recommend this rental service.
