Yes. Albania’s main roads have improved significantly. A rental car lets you reach places like Theth, Berat, Saranda, and Ksamil on your own schedule. Always follow local speed limits and check road conditions before mountain trips.

Most providers accept drivers 18+ with a valid licence held for at least one year. Some owners require 21+ or 23+ for certain car classes. The exact rule is shown on each car page.

EU and EEA licences, plus UK and US licences, are generally accepted without an IDP. If your licence is not Latin-alphabet or you are unsure, ask the owner via the contact button on the car page.

Yes. All cars include mandatory Third Party Liability insurance that covers damage caused to third parties. Details appear on each listing and on your voucher.

Yes. You can choose optional full insurance from our partner SIGAL when available, or select an owner-provided package listed on the car page.

Coverage may include accidents, fire, natural events, glass, and parking damage. Package availability depends on vehicle age and value:

• Super Kasko 100% for cars up to 10 years old
  • 0% excess and 0% franchise
  • Parking damage up to €500
  • Police report required for claims over €300
• Standard Kasko 80% for cars up to 15 years old
  • 20% excess and 2% franchise
  • Parking damage up to €500
  • Police report required for claims over €300
• Simple Kasko 75% for cars 15–20 years old (value up to €5,000)
  • 25% excess and 2% franchise
  • Parking damage up to €250
  • Police report required for claims over €300
• AutoSOS (roadside assistance)

• Full insurance removing customer liability, with covered events defined by the owner

Possibly. Fines, tolls, and fuel are not covered by full insurance. The deposit amount is shown on the car page and can sometimes be adjusted with the owner.

Policies vary by car and are shown on the listing and during checkout. Cancellations within the stated deadline receive a full refund of service fees and guarantees.

After the deadline the amount paid by card is non-refundable. This includes service fees and the no-show guarantee.

At booking you pay the service fees and any refundable guarantees by card. The rental price is paid to the owner on delivery.

Yes. Payments are processed by Stripe. Rent From Locals never stores your full card data.

Some owners require a refundable deposit at pickup to cover damage, fines, or fuel. The exact amount appears on the car page and on your voucher.

The guarantee is held by Rent From Locals to secure your booking and is refunded after pickup. The deposit is held by the owner at delivery to cover damage, fines, or fuel.

We automatically refund the guarantee the day after pickup. Banks may take several days or weeks to process it. If you do not see it after three weeks, contact us.

Once accepted, you arrange delivery with the owner. Most cars can be delivered at Tirana Airport or at an agreed city location, then collected on your departure.

Yes. Select different pickup and drop-off points in search. The daily price and any delivery fee are shown separately before booking.

Mileage limits are shown on the car page. If no limit is listed, ask the owner via the contact button.

If a booking is refused, we immediately refund the service fees so you can book another car.

Most owners cover repair costs and may provide a replacement when available. Check the listing for roadside assistance and cross-border policy. If you cannot resolve it with the owner, email customerservice@rentfromlocals.al.

Some cars allow cross-border travel for a fee that covers notary documents. Check the listing. Additional insurance for the destination country may be required.

The commission funds our platform and support. It is split between renter and owner. The renter pays it online and the owner’s part is deducted from local payment.

You are paid locally on delivery. For no-show protection, set a booking guarantee. It is blocked on the customer’s card and refunded after pickup unless the customer fails to show.

If the customer misses pickup and did not cancel in time, you receive the guarantee amount set on your listing.
